Heather Crowson, Ed.D., Vice President for Enrollment Management, has established goals to increase retention and graduation of students within four to six years.

The Academic Coach Pilot Program and process creates multiple opportunities for enhancing a student's positive college experience by:
- Fostering a commitment to retain first-year students through the Fall and Spring semesters
- Increasing participation in orientation to the college and campus, as well as scheduling reviews of students' strengths and interests
- Offering counseling through Career Services, based upon students' interests and abilities
- Reviewing academic results and the students' reports each semester with a counselor
- Encouraging student participation in campus activities based upon their interests
- Providing a mentor to engage students in the career choices identified in their reports
- Encouraging students to become active alumni and supporters of the university
Many of these objectives are beneficial for a university or college to identify and track results as students progress through their education process, working towards earning their degree.
| The Academic Coach is intended to help school administrators increase retention rates of the student body and reduce financial obligations for students by allowing students to select their course of study earlier in the college course selection process. By increasing graduation rates, this tool can provide the college with a new alumni base of students who can assist with student mentoring programs and alumni service programs. |
