Profiles Transition Coach assists workers in transition to discover their career potential. In today's ever-changing economy, individuals are often faced with career decisions. The Transition Coach can direct individuals to explore additional career opportunities based on their strengths, interests and abilities.

The information included in the Transition Coach report assists individuals as they create or edit their professional résumé. The report lists each individual's strengths in areas such as Sociability, Manageability, Energy Level and Assertiveness. Organizations are searching for employees whose strengths in these areas match the needs of open positions.

The report also provides suggestions for interviewing a mentor or successful professional. By meeting with a mentor or professional, individuals gain insight into the requirements, education, training and salary for their desired occupation.

The Transition Coach assessment tool has been used in partnership with outplacement agencies, professional training and coaching companies, and corporations facing layoffs. With the assistance of the Transition Coach report, these organizations can direct individuals to potential careers that match their Thinking Style, Behavioral Traits and Occupational Interests.

The Institute of Labor Studies & Research assists retiring teachers by helping them identify their next career. Participating teachers are able to create a plan that includes the online assessment, résumé building, information on researching careers and an interviewing workshop.

“It’s a great opportunity for our members if they are thinking about retiring…I don’t think teachers realize what they have to offer outside of teaching,” said Marcia Reback, President of the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals.
